Knowledge combats fear and gives power. Educating yourselves about pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum, is the one of the best things you can do to have a positive experience. I thought after having four babies I must know pretty much anything worth knowing about childbirth. I can’t believe how wrong I was. Every time I take another training it blows me away how much more there is to know about birth that isn’t standard knowledge and how significantly this information can change what you experience in labor. The information I present helps you navigate your birth preferences, it is evidence-based, not fear-based, I have no bias toward certain choices and do not try to steer you toward what I would choose for my own births.
My classes are geared to be fun, engaging, visually exciting, and highly beneficial. I teach with three goals in mind, I want my students to know what they need to know, why they need to know it, and how to use the information to their benefit, (and I want them to love the class so much that they don’t hesitate to tell their friends how valuable it was!) I especially love the excitement I see when dads/birth partners learn all of the ways they can support these birthing warriors through labor; they finally know how to help and can get off the chair and off the phone and become the rock and foundation they knew they could be! My classes also include mini assignments and quizzes (GASP!) but, also include awesome prizes for your efforts!
You will learn about optimal fetal position and how it can affect labor, you will learn about a variety of tools that you can use during pregnancy and labor such as a Rebozo, a birth/peanut ball, and massage techniques, you will try out different positions for labor and for pushing, you will learn what to expect when bringing a baby home and what postpartum recovery looks like, and so much more! After teaching in my living room for the last few years I am beyond thrilled to be working on a classroom in my home that is dedicated to my childbirth classes and meetings with my doula clients and trainees. Pictures coming soon!
Classes are available in both group and private and can be taught in my classroom or in your home. Hosts get a special gift if they book at least one other couple for a class in their home. I also give thank you gifts for anyone that refers an enrolled student. Every couple receives a “Preparing for Birth” workbook as well.
